update time

Due to a increased web presence and overall increase of web traffic, we will be updating our site over the next weeks. While the inventory on site has always been up to date on a daily, even hourly basis, the software which runs the site has issued several upgrades since we first went online. It is our intention to make use of these upgrades to increase usability as well as integration of several new features, including the opportunity for members to edit their own contact information, including contact names, updated phone numbers, and fax's as well as email contact information.

Previously these features were kept in a separate off-site database. These upgrades should increase our response time to you and make sure our communications get to the correct party.

In addition, while we initially chose only to post those items which we currently own and our located in our Newark, NJ warehouse, we are looking at posting the lists of available items as well, to reduce the amount of faxing and phone calls. Should you have a list of available off-spec, aged, or non-prime materials from solvents to food additives, dont hesitate to contact us with a request to post that list in part or its entirety to increase the chances of success in reclaiming your investment.

While every effort will be made to maintain our membership, should your account become disabled, please re-register. The home page will issue an announcement when this might become needed.

Thank You!

database errors logging in

Due to a database error, many of you have not been able to log in. You have our apologies.

The database errors have been fixed and should you continue to have trouble logging in, please contact me directly and I will reset your password manually if the password reset function doesnt do it for you.

Ahartchem.com Vs. Ahartcorp.com

Some of you are using http://www.ahartchem.com or http://www.ahartchem.net in order to access our site. While this is fine for many tasks, some of the more advanced features are unavailable on those domains.

Why have them?

They are mirrors, or copies, of the site used for testing, or if anything ever happened to the main site, we could restore the site and database from those locations. The alternate addresses also provide us the ability to support users who misplace the correct web address.

How do you make use of the full site with all its features, including the inventory?

bookmark us using http://www.ahartcorp.com as the page you browse to. This address is our main site. Should a problem arise, you would be forwarded to the other sites while we fixed it, so no need to bookmark them.

What if i registered at the other site?

No problem, i already anticipated that and transferred your log on information to the correct site. No need to re-register.

some updates from admin

today we added google ads and search capabilities to the site. the ads are meant to be unobtrusive and content sensitive. the site search needs some time for google to index it properly, but the old style site search still works and is still available on the right side of the page. it takes 48 hours or so for google to add relevant content, so you may see a blank box for the next few days. this is not an error, as these blank boxes are temporary and will soon be filled with industry specific content.

we also added a firefox banner.

this is the preferred browser for Ahart Chemical and the site is designed to render properly in the firefox browser. click the link on the top left of the page or the banner directly above this text to download your free copy.

Free AntiVirus

Tired of paying the popular antivirus guys a bundle of money for a suspect product that eats up your computer resources only to provide protection that is...underwhelming?

I just posted an entry regarding Comodo Software. they are offering a free firewall which i am currently using. They also offer a bunch of other free stuff that is better than what you are currently paying for and doesnt have spyware, adware, or bloatware. AND it is free for personal AND business use. That means you dont have to worry about your antivirus subscriptions getting out of date.

This resource is truly free and can be downloaded Here

a list of features:

  1. Detects and eliminates viruses from desktops and networks
  2. Constantly protects with real-time On Access scanning online
  3. Proactive Heuristic analysis intercepts unknown threats
  4. Daily, automatic updates of virus definitions
  5. Isolates suspicious files in quarantine preventing infection
  6. Simple to use: install and forget

Once again, I must be clear that Ahart Chemical is not a partner of Comodo, NOR do we receive any sort of consideration for providing you this information. We do not offer technical support for this product, but Comodo does, and its also free.

Need more SECURity on your computer? : Free Firewall

everybody needs a firewall because everything and anything is constantly trying to communicate without your knowledge, or permission. Microsoft applications are the biggest users [read: wasters] of your bandwidth, but most every application wants to check for updates, download patches, or send your information to a centralized database.

but im behind a router/firewall set up by my administrator! thats great, but not terribly effective. Its the out going traffic im commenting on, not the incoming stuff which you are, no doubt, protected from already.

so how do i protect my personal information? by adding a desktop firewall [one installed on your computer] to manage outgoing lan and wan traffic.

but windows comes with a firewall. yep, it sure does. have you even looked at it? or do you just trust it blindly? Its in your control panel. double click on 'firewall' and look at how its configured. it does not offer advanced application rules, it will not let you do any advanced configuration at all. and it does not block the traffic to microsoft. now really, why do you need to be connected to microsoft all day long? this is using your computer resources, and your internet connection!

Comodo software is offering a free firewall, with free updates, for life. there are other free firewalls, but in comparison, they are not even noteworthy. there are retail firewalls, that hook you for $30, $50, even more. they dont do the job Comodo does. i just deleted the "best" personal firewall from my computer yesterday.

the link is Here

Ahart Chemical is not affiliated with Comodo Software, we do not receive compensation from Comodo, NOR do we offer technical support for it. But Comodo does. So contact them, or sign up at the Comodo forums if you need assistance.

WARNING to YaHoo mail users

This was released today:

Quote:
A virus that infects computers when users merely read an email - rather than open an attachment - has hit Yahoo! Mail accounts.

Yahoo! is the world's largest email services provider and handles 200 million accounts, but it said on Monday that only "a very small fraction" had been infected.

The worm has been dubbed Yamanner and landed in Yahoo! mailboxes bearing the subject line "New Graphic Site". Once opened, the message infects the computer and spreads to other users listed in Yahoo! users' email address books, security companies said.

The email containing the virus need only be opened - in contrast to most worms that are hidden in attachments and require users to take an additional step - to release the virus, according to computer security company Symantec.

The company advised users to update virus and firewall software on their computers and to block any email sent from

av3 @ yahoo.com

.

Yahoo! said in a statement: "We have taken steps to resolve the issue and protect our users from further attacks of this worm."

Yamanner, first detected by Yahoo! and computer anti-virus software makers earlier on Monday, was ranked as having a low threat level by Trend Micro and McAfee.

But Symantec considers the worm an "elevated threat", one step up from the lowest ranking in terms of relative danger.

Symantec's Security Response site suggested that Yahoo! account holders might protect themselves by upgrading to the latest test version of the recently upgraded Yahoo! Mail software.

"The worm cannot run on the newest version of Yahoo! Mail Beta," Symantec's site said.

Spam campaigns

A Yahoo! spokesman was not immediately available to comment on whether the company advised users to do this.

The worm exploits a JavaScript vulnerability technology used to make the mail program easier to use by triggering embedded HTML scripts to run in the computer user's browser.

The email addresses are also sent to a remote server, which may be used to run spam campaigns, analysts said. The technical name of the worm goes by variants of JS.Yamanner
